Display Not Showing JTECH CMS/NoviSign Content

The display is powered on, but it is not connected to the CMS and cannot display any content. This applies to the JTECH CMS that is powered by the NoviSign App.

Symptoms
  • Display shows Android home screen or system menu
  • Apps visible may include:
    • Settings
    • FileBrowser
    • Digital Signage
    • DS Source
  • No NoviSign/JTECH CMS login screen
  • No CMS content displayed
  • No option to select a screen
Root Cause

The NoviSign application is not installed on the device.

Without this app, the display cannot connect to the CMS or load any content. 

How to Confirm
    1. Check the apps available on the display
    2. Look for The NoviSign App

    If not present → this is the issue


    Important Note

    This process assumes that the content and screen have already been created in the CMS from a computer using https://cms.jtech.com

    The display will only be used to install the JTECH CMS app, log in, and load the assigned screen

    Resolution

    Install the NoviSign application on the display.

    Option 1 – Install from Display (Recommended)

    1. Open the browser on the display
    2. Go to: https://app.novisign.com/downloads/
    3. Download: Download the latest available APK version
    4. Open the file
    5. Proceed with installation


    Option 2 – Install via USB

    1. Download the APK on a computer
    2. Copy file to USB drive
    3. Insert USB into display
    4. Open FileBrowser
    5. Run the APK file

     

    Important - Enable installation from Unknown Sources

    Android blocks APK installations by default.

    When installing:

    1. A prompt will appear
    2. Select Allow / Settings
    3. Enable:
      • “Install unknown apps”
      • Or “Allow from this source”
    4. Continue installation

    Post-Installation Steps

    1. Open NoviSign app
    2. Log in with JTECH CMS credentials
    3. Select the assigned screen
    4. Wait 1–3 minutes for sync

     

    Expected Result

    • Display connects to CMS
    • Screen loads assigned content
    • Content starts playing automatically

     

    If Issue Persists

    Check:

    • Internet connection
    • Login credentials
    • Screen assignment in CMS

     

    Best Practices

    • Verify app installation before troubleshooting content issues
    • Keep APK available for quick installs
    • Do not rely on default “Digital Signage” apps

     

    When to Escalate

    Escalate if:

    • App fails to install
    • App crashes
    • Cannot log in
    • Screen does not sync after setup

    This is a common issue with displays received from Illuminology, as devices may arrive with a clean Android setup or only default applications installed.
