Display Not Showing Scheduled Content - Time Zone/Device Time Issue
Scheduled content is configured correctly, but the display does not show it at the expected time.
Symptoms
- Display is connected and working
- Content shows at wrong times OR not at all
- Only default or fallback content appears
- Scheduled playlists are skipped
Root Cause
The device time or time zone is incorrect. The media player uses its internal clock, not the CMS time.
If the device time is wrong:
- The system thinks it is a different time/day
- Scheduled content will not match
How to Confirm
- Check current time on the display
- Compare with actual local time
- Verify time zone
If there is a mismatch → this is the issue.
Resolution
Step 1 – Open Android Settings
- Go to Settings
- Select System
- Select Date & Time
Step 2 – Configure Correct Settings
Enable:
- Use network-provided time
- Use network-provided time zone
OR manually set:
- Correct date
- Correct time
- Correct time zone
Step 3 – Restart (Recommended)
- Restart the display or app
- Wait 2–3 minutes for sync
Why This Works
- Scheduling depends 100% on device time
- If time is wrong, schedules will not match
- CMS does not control time zone
Important Notes
- This is NOT a CMS configuration issue
- This is NOT a playlist issue
- This is NOT a network issue
When to Escalate
- Time and time zone are correct
- Device is synced
- Content still does not display
