Use the calculator below to estimate the amount of SMS messages you anticipate using each month. Text-message usage is calculated by SMS segment. Standard texts of up to 160 characters, including spaces, count as one message. Longer texts are divided into segments of up to 153 characters each, with each segment counting as a separate message toward your allowance. Emojis and certain special characters reduce these character limits and may increase the number of billable segments.
